Exhibition

In the summer of 2007, Patrick Dowdey (Wesleyan University), Clifton Meador (Columbia College Chicago) and Padma 'tsho (Southwest University for Nationalities) conducted their third season of fieldwork at Derge. Together, they signed an agreement for a cooperative exhibition project with the Derge Parkhang. Under the agreement and with the full assistance of the Derge Parkhang, they collected books and prints, life histories of workers, oral histories of Derge and Derge County from local scholars and managers, and photographs and video. They also toured parkhang at other monasteries in the former realm of the Derge Kings. In 2008 and 2009 they will mount an exhibition based on this fieldwork at Wesleyan and then Columbia College Chicago. This will be the first exhibition of books and prints from the Derge Parkang in the United States.
